Re: Is my Snider fun finished?

KingBee no I don't but if they were done in Nepal I think id cut new threads , , the reamer would cost more than the gun is worth, you might find a smith that could do the work that wouldn't cost so...

Re: Is my Snider fun finished?

Shouldn't take much to get it going if the barrel section can be mated to the receiver/shoe. As far as chambering on a budget goes, couldn't one just rent a 24 gauge chamber reamer?

Re: Is my Snider fun finished?

Jim, Just off the top of my head, I got a couple of 3 band Enfield parts rifles a while back. Id be happy to send you a barrel if you think you could use it for poor Mr. Snider. Let me know.

Re: Is my Snider fun finished?

While I know IMA isn't selling parts rifles as such, I'm sure they've got them and are using them for their own repairs on the cleaned up Sniders. As such I'd recommend you e-mail them, explain your...

Re: Is my Snider fun finished?

Wouldn't relining be at least no more effort and expense than cutting and threading a different barrel (that might have the same problems?) With a reline you'd be preserving the history of the...

Re: Is my Snider fun finished?

Actually a barreled shoe should be a drop in if you can get one. Unlike the fine parts, the barreled shoe is the same dimension for the stock pretty much regardless. I've had a number apart and they...

I suspected that Alex would. He has a faithful folloing among us and it certainly has been mutual. As some of you know, every once in a while someone off-loads on IMA for selling "junk" despite the...

Re: Is my Snider fun finished?

Re: Is my Snider fun finished?

Mark, if Alex is unable to help, I'll ask you for the number.  Thanks.  Claven, I'll have to see what parts I end up with.  Dropping in a barreled shoe would be easiest, and least costly, but I know...

Re: Is my Snider fun finished?

Stupid question time. Has anyone ever had a Snider MK III 3-band rifle relined? Considering how thin the barrel walls are by the muzzle, it would have to be one very thin liner to retain the original...

Re: Is my Snider fun finished?

hmmmm, good question. I suppose one could treat like it cutoff barrel and then stretch it. That's a pretty common operation for Mr. Hoyt. My M1842 had been cut back by 11 inches when I got it, Hoyt...
